The ancient and beautiful Icelandic language, Íslenska, is closely related to other West Scandinavian languages, such as Faroese and Norwegian. Because of Iceland’s remote location as a small island nation in the North Atlantic, Icelandic has changed very little from the former old Norse of the 10th Century.
The language includes long words and complex conjugations, so many people – especially from the English-speaking world – consider it very hard to learn.
Bit by bit we plan to create some sort of a guide here and provide you with some handy tips to master the language eventually. As always, constant practice is key!
