The Snorri Programs

The Snorri Programs offer two unique and unforgettable travel opportunities that connect English-speaking people of Icelandic descent with their relatives, heritage, and identity. They would love to welcome Icelandophiles from Aotearoa New Zealand. Icelandic descent is not required for the Snorri Plus program.

The Snorri Program is for young adults (ages 20-30) of Icelandic descent. The program runs for five weeks, from 14 June to 19 July 2026. The regular application deadline has passed, but they have a couple of spots open, so they will continue accepting applications until those spots are filled. There is a significant amount of funding help available to participants in the form of scholarships/grants from Icelandic clubs and other organisations. Most participants receive 50-60% of the total costs covered by grants.

Snorri Plus is a two-week condensed version of the above program for anyone age 30+, with one week in Reykjavík and one week in the countryside. This year, they are focusing on West Iceland. The program runs from 17 to 30 August. Snorri Plus is perfect for couples, adult siblings/cousins, friends, multigenerational family groups (accepting teenagers 16+ who are travelling with older family members), and intrepid solo travellers. The final registration deadline is currently set for 9 March, but it may be extended if they haven’t reached the minimum enrollment of 10 people by then.

Applications for 2026 are now closed. Applications for all 2027 programs will open in October.
